STEP-FATHER CHANGES PLEA, ADMITS TO BATTERY ON STEP-SON

Karim Christian is scheduled to be sentenced for battery later this month after admitting to unlawfully beating on his stepson.

 

Christian was arrested February last year, after a video surfaced on social media showing him beating his then 16-year-old stepson with a wooden plank.

 

The defendant initially pleaded not guilty to the charge when he came before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel-Edwards July last year.

 

However, last week, as his trial was about to begin, Christian accepted responsibility for his actions; changing his plea to guilty.

 

A social inquiry report has been ordered ahead of the sentencing, which is set for January 29.
