TELECOMS BILL EXPECTED TO BE PASSED THIS MONTH

The long-awaited Telecommunications Bill is to be taken before Parliament for approval in 2 weeks’ time.

The update is provided in the notes released to the media from Wednesday’s cabinet meeting.

The bill, which has been the subject of several rounds of consultations, is expected to be taken through its second and third readings on the 20^th of June when Parliament’s Lower House next meets.

The proposed legislation is expected to significantly transform the telecoms landscape in this country and ultimately benefit consumers.
