TEMPORARY TRAFFIC LIGHTS HAVE NOT DISPLACES FLAG OPERATORS

There’s apparently been some speculation that temporary traffic lights on Sir George Walter Highway have caused some flag operators to be sent home.

However, these rumours are false according to the PRO of the Project Implementation Management Unit, Shawn Thomas.

The lights were installed last week to control the flow of traffic as excavation work resulted in partial closure of the busy thoroughfare.

Thomas says flag operators are still deployed at critical times when road users require specific guidance.
