The Tourism Minister Speaks Of Gross Irregularities At The St John’s Development Corporation
Attempts have been made by the ABLP administration to rectify various irregularities at the St. John’s Development Corporation.
Minister of Tourism and Energy, the Hon. Asot Micheal, in his contribution to the budget debate on Tuesday, says the current government inherited a corporation that was literally full of mismanagement.
He cites that there was no adequate documentation of audited financial statements, projects were carried out without haste and monies were borrowed for purposes that do not fall under the corporation’s mandate.
These, he says, were just a small fraction of what was taking place.
He continues that for the most part, the SJDC was not carrying out its duties, adding that the city of St. John’s was particularly neglected.
