THREE NEW CASES OF COVID-19 RECORDED
Antigua and Barbuda’s COVID-19 case count has surpassed the 200-mark after three new non-imported cases were recorded as of Sunday, January 24.
However, active cases have fallen to 25 after 7 more people recovered from the viral infection.
The Health Ministry’s latest dashboard shows the country’s case count has climbed to 201.
The three new cases were confirmed following tests on a batch of 40 samples at the Trinidad-based Caribbean Public Health Agency, CARPHA.
The 65 samples tested at Mount St John’s Medical Centre all returned negative results.
This is the third straight dashboard showing three new cases.
There have been 11 new cases since January 20.
Information Minister Hon. Melford Nicholas had explained at last week’s post-cabinet media briefing the level of increase likely to trigger more stringent containment measures.
Minister Nicholas was quoting comments by his colleague Minister Sir Molwyn Joseph in cabinet last Wednesday.
