TOURISM OFFICIALS UPBEAT DESPITE REGIONAL TENSIONS

One of Antigua and Barbuda’s senior tourism officials says geopolitical tensions are not likely to impact the country as a tourist destination. The assurance has come from head of Antigua and Barbuda’s Tourism office in the United States, Dean Fenton.

He was speaking to ABS News during a reception to welcome members of Antigua and Barbuda’s US Travel Advisory Board. Fenton says while some travelers have expressed safety concerns, it has not slowed traffic to VC Bird International Airport.

Fenton explains this is a result of bookings being made months in advance and being honoured. He also confirms several hotels are operating at full capacity.

Fenton also says travel agents have played a major role in allaying fears and promoting the destination.

Looking to the upcoming months, Fenton believes once geopolitical tensions subside, the tourism sector will see a strong 2026.
