TROPICAL STORM ERIN CONTINUES WESTERLY TRACK

According to the Antigua & Barbuda Meteorological Service, Tropical Storm Erin is expected to begin strengthening soon and could become a hurricane later this week.

At 8 am, Tuesday, Erin was located at 17.4 degrees North and 34.3 degrees West, about 1890 miles or 3045 kilometres East of the Northern Leeward Islands. Maximum sustained winds are at 45 miles per hour or 75 kilometres per hour. Its current speed is 22 miles per hour or 35 kilometres per hour toward the West.

Currently, Erin poses no immediate threat to the Leeward Islands or the BVI, but we continue to monitor its progress closely.
