TROPICAL STORM WARNING ISSUED FOR ANTIGUA & BARBUDA
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued and is in effect for Antigua, Barbuda, St. Kitts, Nevis, Montserrat, and Anguilla. A warning by France and the Netherlands has also been issued for Guadeloupe,
St. Martin, St. Barthelemy, and Sint Maarten respectively.
At 8 AM, the disturbance was centred near latitude 14.6 North, longitude 54.3 West. The system is moving toward the West near 26 mph (43 km/h), and a westward to west-northwestward
motion is expected with some decrease in forward speed during the next few days. On the forecast track, the disturbance is expected to move across portions of the Leeward Islands late tonight or Tuesday and approach the U.S. and British Virgin Islands
and Puerto Rico Tuesday evening.
Maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph (45 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next few days, and the disturbance is expected to become a tropical depression later today or tonight.
Tropical storm conditions are expected in the warning area beginning late tonight or early Tuesday.
Potential Tropical Cyclone Five is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 4 to 6 inches over portions of the Leeward Islands.
