TROPICAL STORM WATCH DISCONTINUED FOR BARBUDA

The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services has lifted the tropical storm watch for Barbuda.

The watch was discontinued at 8pm Friday, as Hurricane Erin remains on a track which will spare the Leeward Islands from its strongest winds.

Erin, the first hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic season, has strengthened further.

As at 8pm Friday, Erin had sustained winds of 85 miles per hour, with higher gusts.

The Met Office is urging residents in Antigua and Barbuda to remain on alert, as the hurricane’s outer bands are expected to produce increased showers over the islands between tonight and Sunday. Rainfall amounts could total two to four inches for the period
