Two New Females Will Grace The Halls Of Parliament

Two of the country’s female politicians were elected to serve as Members of Parliament during the June 12 General Elections.

The Antigua and BarbudaLabour Party’s (ABLP) the Hon. Samantha Marshall defeated Hilson Baptiste of the United Progressive Party (UPP) for the St Mary’s South Constituency while the Hon. Joanne Massiah of the UPP was victorious in the All Saints East and St Lukerace against new comer, Colin “Tin Tin” James of the ABLP.

Prime Minister, the Hon. Gaston Browne says Marshall has come a long way and adds that he is overwhelmingly pleased with her victory.

Attorney General the Hon. Steadroy “Cutie” Benjamin, who is to assume the ministerial portfolio of Legal Affairs, Labour, Immigration and Public Safety, says both women are attorneys with whom he has had the pleasure to work on numerous occasions. He congratulated them on their historic accomplishments.
