UNITED STATES IMPROVES ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA’S RANKING IN HUMAN TRAFFICKING REPORT
Antigua and Barbuda now has an improved ranking in the Trafficking in Persons Report.
The US State Department which publishes the annual report, has moved the twin island state from the tier two watch list and placed it in tier 2.
The Department of State notes in its country report, “The Government demonstrated overall increasing efforts compared with the previous reporting period.”
It also says, “These efforts included investigating more trafficking cases, finalizing and implementing a new NAP, and updating victim identification and referral SOPs.”
Director of the Trafficking in Persons (Prevention) Unit in the Public Safety Ministry, John McKinnon says he and his team are excited with the improved ranking, but says the work continues to get the country to tier 1 status.
