UPP LEADER REVEALS RESPONSE TO THREATS BY SOME MEMBERS TO DEFECT FROM PARTY
Political leader of the United Progressive Party, Jamale Pringle, has commented on some high-profile defections from the opposition party.
He revealed some former members of the party threatened to leave if they were not allowed to run as candidates, saying he refused to “address persons holding a gun to my head.”
The embattled UPP leader insists he is still in the position, since he refuses to be intimidated.
He was delivering an address during the ratification of the party’s candidates who will contest the upcoming general election.
His comments come amidst reports the opposition party has been hobbled by internal rifts in its preparations for the upcoming general election.
