US SECRETARY OF STATE DOUBLES DOWN ON CRITIQUE OF CUBAN MEDICAL BRIGADE

United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, he does not object to the services being provided by the Cuban Medical Brigade, but is concerned about the way the government in Havana administers the programme.

He was addressing a joint news conference in Jamaica with Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness, on the first leg of a three-nation regional tour.

The US’s top diplomat did not provide details about how Washington would respond to the concerns from the wider Caricom bloc, regarding threats to revoke the visas of foreign government officials involved in the programme.

However, he was adamant the US’s policy is aimed at the Cuban government.
