US SPRINTER SHA’CARRI RICHARDSON APOLOGISES TO FANS AFTER POSITIVE DRUGS TEST
US sprinting phenom Sha’Carri Richardson has apologized to her millions of fans after testing positive for THC, the chemical in marijuana. The 21 year old will be prohibited from competing in the 100m in Tokyo, after storming to victory in the US Olympic Trials. In an interview on NBC’s Today Show, Richardson accepted responsibility for the use of the drug, which is banned during competition under World Anti-Doping Agency rules.
There had been great expectation over what was being billed as the clash between Richardson and Jamaican sprint queen, Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce in the blue ribbon event. Fraser Pryce is the fastest woman alive, having run 10.63 seconds in Kingston weeks ago.
