UTILITIES MINISTER DEFENDS 5-KILOWATT-HOUR CAP FOR HOUSEHOLD PHOTOVOLTAICS
Utilities Minister Hon. Melford Nicholas has mounted a staunch defence of a new policy governing solar power use in homes, set to be implemented next year.
He made the comments in Parliament on Wednesday, days after announcing a major policy shift in which the Antigua Public Utilities Authority will allow battery storage and inverters in homes which use photovoltaic systems.
The government has come under attack from Opposition Leader Hon. Jamale Pringle for the cap of 5 kilowatt hours under this policy.
However, Minister Nicholas chides the opposition leader, saying the 5-kilowatt ceiling was not arrived at lightly.
