VACCINATION ROLL OUT WEDNESDAY
Antigua and Barbuda’s vaccine programme will roll out tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.
First in line for the jab are front line health workers at the Mount St. John’s Medical Centre (MSJMC).
The Royal Police Force is also included in the first group.
Information Minister Hon. Melford Nicholas says Cabinet ministers, who form part of the priority list, as a mark of support have decided to be in the second batch.
IT infrastructure is in place and training will be conducted tomorrow on its use.
Minister Nicholas says all that’s required when they present themselves for vaccination is for them to be validated. The vaccine is then given and the batch, sample, date, time are recorded.
He says the next batch of vaccines is expected in two weeks and explains what will pertain for the general public.
Once that information is captured the ministry of health and the vaccination authorities will schedule an appointment.
The intention is to roll the vaccine out into the districts and not only central locations like the Multi Purpose Cultural Centre, the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium or from the various community clinics
The necessary IT infrastructure will also be made available at the Hannah Thomas Hospital in Barbuda for a mass roll out of the vaccine.
The Information Minister says there’s also the need for a massive education campaign.
