‘VENEZUELA WOULD LIKE TO TALK’ – PRESIDENT TRUMP OPEN TO TALKS WITH PRESIDENT MADURO

President Donald Trump has opened the door to talks with his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolas Maduro, as tensions mount over a US naval build-up in the southern Caribbean.

President Trump’s comments on Monday came hours after Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne urged a diplomatic solution to the sabre-rattling between Washington and Caracas, which has left the region on tenterhooks.

Prime Minister Browne wrote on Facebook, “We encourage President Trump to resolve the differences between the US and Venezuela, through diplomacy and dialogue. Let’s continue to preserve our hemisphere as a zone of peace.”

President Trump told reporters that “Venezuela wants to talk,” but did not provide details.
