VENEZUELANS RECEIVE TEMPORARY PROTECTED STATUS (TPS) FROM THE UNITED STATES
This week, U.S President Joe Biden fulfilled one of the promises made on the campaign trail, by granting Venezuelans living in the United States, Temporary Protected Status (TPS).
This applies to Venezuelans, living in the US as of March 8th 2021. Scores of Venezuelans will now have the opportunity to stay and work legally in the U.S.
Monday’s announcement means Venezuelans in the US have a clearer, route to legal immigration status. Which is guaranteed for 18 months.
Last month neighbouring Colombia, also granted temporary legal status to almost 1 million Venezuelans, residing in the said country.
The US does not recognize the government led by Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro, the successor to former President Hugo Chavez.
