WASTE PROVING TO BE A COSTLY EXERCISE
Antigua and Barbuda’s sanitary landfill, otherwise known as the Cooks Dump, is operating on borrowed time.
This was revealed during last night’s edition of GIS Presents.
The issue of its longevity was raised as a result of the concern about the hundreds of tons of waste being taken to the facility during the bulk waste removal exercise.
Manager of the National Solid Waste Management Authority, Daryl Spencer says one option carries a heavy cost that goes into the millions.
Spencer is of the view that there are other available options which would ease the overall burdens on the state while opening up opportunities for those attuned to business opportunities.
