WHO SAYS VACCINE NATIONALISM COSTS TRILLIONS

World Health Organization Director General Doctor Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says the hoarding of COVID- 19 vaccines by rich countries will have more than a negative health effect.

He says unequal access to vaccines can wind up costing the world trillions.

Meanwhile, Doctor Ghebreyesus says the financing gap for this year for the Access to COVID- 19 Tools Accelerator is 26 billion US dollars.
He says if fully funded ACT which supports global efforts to end the pandemic will return up to 166 billion US dollars for every dollar invested.
He was speaking during the WHO’s 148th Executive Board Session.
