LEROY KING SENTENCING RESCHEDULED TO JULY 30

Leroy King will be sentenced on the 30th of July this year in a Texas Federal Court in the United States.

The former chief of the Financial Services Regulatory Commission had been set for sentencing on April 24, but this was rescheduled amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

King’s lawyer, Marc Carter says his client has health conditions that make him especially vulnerable to COVID-19.

Carter says King is also not permitted visitors and U.S. Probation has not been permitted in to interview him for the Pre-Sentence Report (PSR).

The Assistant United States Attorney Brittain Shaw was not opposed to this motion for continuance.

US District Court Judge David Hittner then rescheduled sentencing for the 30th of July with the final presentence investigation to be completed a week earlier, on the 23rd.

King had admitted his role in the Stanford International Bank Ponzi scheme earlier this year.

The 74 year old King of Dickenson Bay in Antigua, pleaded guilty to one count each of conspiracy to obstruct justice and obstruction of justice.

Each of the two counts carries a maximum sentence of 5 years imprisonment.
