GOVERNMENT INTRODUCES NEW HOURS OF CURFEW

Antigua and Barbuda has now come under more rigid curfew hours as part of a set of measures aimed at reversing recent trends.
So from tomorrow, the hours of curfew begin at 6pm and will continue until 5am the following morning.
The number of infections has escalated significantly over the past couple of weeks.
Minister of Information the Hon. Melford Nicholas says this is the closest the country has come to a lockdown since the middle of last year.

 

The new curfew hours will remain in effect until the 15th of March.
As another measure, social gatherings are now limited to five persons but churches will benefit from the latitude they were earlier offered to hold services for up to 25 persons.

Meantime, the government has decided to prohibit home quarantine.

Minister Nicholas says the Halcyon Hotel is to come on board shortly as a quarantine facility to help ease the burden.
