REPARATIONS COMMISSION WELCOMES APOLOGY AND RESTITUTION COMMITMENT FROM TREVELYAN FAMILY
The Antigua and Barbuda Reparations Support Commission is set to make an announcement shortly on an adjustment to its push for reparations.
It is set to consider pursuing the descendants of slave-owning families for reparatory justice, in addition to the continuing push from former European imperialist countries.
The comments from the Commission’s Chairman, Ambassador Dorbrene O’Marde follow an apology by the Trevelyan family from Britain for their ancestor’s role in slavery in Grenada.
One of the descendants, BBC Journalist, Laura Trevelyan, has also indicated the family will commit 100,000 Pounds Sterling to an education fund in Grenada.
