“TOO CONSERVATIVE” – PRIME MINISTER BROWNE REACTS TO IMF GROWTH FORECAST FOR A&B
Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Hon. Gaston Browne says the International Monetary Fund’s projection of a 5.5 per cent growth in real GDP for Antigua and Barbuda this year, is far too conservative.
The IMF is projecting the twin-island state is expected to have the third highest level of economic growth in Latin America and the Caribbean this year, behind Guyana (37.2%) and St Vincent and the Grenadines (6.0%).
However, Prime Minister Browne says the prospects for growth are more in line with projections from other agencies, including the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank.
