President of Disabilities Association Hopes for Ratification
There is renewed optimism for the ratification of the convention for persons with disabilities, brought by a pledge from Prime Minister the Hon Gaston Browne.
President of the Antigua and Barbuda Association for Persons with Disabilities, Bernard Warner, explains.
Warner says he realizes that the task is a major one, which will not happen overnight. He adds that he would like to witness the ratification, which will lead to a review of the legislation to be amended.
Another major issue the association faced was a dilapidated headquarters that prevented the hosting of meetings. However, Warner says this has improved significantly.
The building, Warner says, is at a stage where meetings could be held, however, there is still a need for 10 gallons of paint and the upgrade of the bathroom and kitchen.
