The Government Details Strategic Tourism Plan
A strategic plan has been developed for the nation’s tourism product and is geared towards increased growth in that sector this year.
The country’s leader, Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne, in the 2015 Budget Speech, says this will be further implemented based on sustainability, increase in airlift, enhancing product development and increase room capacity.
Figures indicate that the twin island destination saw a 3 percent growth in stay-over arrivals, when compared to 2013. Prime Minister Browne says the aim is to build on successes.
In the next 60 days, a new carrier will also be launched in Antigua and Barbuda, which will also contribute to an increase in airlift.
A loan from the CARICOM Development Fund will assist the St. John’s Development Corporation in meeting its mandate to enhance the aesthetics around St. John’s.
