Renewable Energy Bill 2015
Leader of Government Business in the Senate, Senator Lennox Weston welcomes the passage of the Renewable Energy Bill 2015.
He says it is his belief that the time is long overdue for Antigua and Barbuda to explore renewable energy options, which will curtail the cost of fuel significantly and allow the country to be more competitive where the cost of production is concerned.
He adds that the prices for solar and wind sources are gradually decreasing, which will be an advantage as the twin island state move towards alternative renewable sources of energy.
In his contribution to the debate, Opposition United Progressive Party Senator, Damani Tabor, says although the movement will have its benefits, it is important that a gradual phasing out process precedes implementation.
