Fish Production Increase

Good news for local fishermen as governmentis seeking to make it possible for them to invest in new vessels.

The Agriculture Minister Arthur Nibbs says the fisher folks will be provided with the necessary incentives and duty-free concessions for them to invest in new and modern fishing vessels and equipment.

He says that the sustainable use of the marine resources is a critical component towards meeting the country’s food security needs and safeguarding the fisheries sector is crucial fin achieving development goals.

The new enacted Antigua and Barbuda Fisheries Act and regulations have been designed to achieve continued growth in the fisheries sector, while taking account of sustainability objectives.
