Department of Environment concludes LAP Workshops

Members of the St. Mary’s parish are to benefit from a major environmental project.
The Department of Environment in collaboration with the Development Control authority hosted a series of workshops in the parish in preparation for the upcoming Local Area Plan initiative.
An LAP establishes a set standard for community development centered on climate change adaptation mechanisms for vulnerable people.

The January 21-22 workshops continue community discussions which began in December of 2020.
While an implementation date has not been decided, this will be the country’s first Parish-level LAP.
An L-A-P was previously conducted in 2019 at the community level in Cashew Hill.
