HIGH COURT RESERVES DECISION ON INJUCTION AGAINST KELVIN SIMON
The High Court has reserved its decision on an injunction application to bar St. Mary South Member of Parliament-Elect Kelvin Simon from swearing in as a Member of Parliament in the Lower House.
The action has been filed in relation to a pending election petition challenging Simon’s election during the January 18 polls.
The petitioner alleges Simon was not duly nominated to contest the elections since he had not yet resigned from the Civil Service on Nomination Day.
The injunction seeks to prevent Simon from entering Parliament before the Election Petition is determined.
The judge has assured the parties that the court’s decision on the injunction will be handed down before the swearing-in ceremony, which is scheduled for February 17.
