KARSTEN WAHOLM SMASHES WORLD RECORD IN 400MH; RAI BENJAMIN CLAIMS SILVER

Norway’s Karsten Warholm lowered his own world record to claim Olympic gold in the 400 meters hurdles in Tokyo. Warholm was a juggernaught, winning in 45.94 seconds, the first sub-46 seconds clocking in the event. He staved off a valiant challenge from Rai Benjamin of the United States, the son of Antiguan Winston Benjamin. Benjamin ran a personal best 46.17, the second fastest time in history. Brazil’s Alison Dos Santos claimed bronze in 46.72 seconds.

Warholm’s brilliance has been one of the performances of the Games of the XXXII Olympiad so far, leaving the athletics world in awe and cementing his place as the greatest ever in this event.
