LIAT CEO David Evans Says Pending Staff Cuts Are Not Exclusive To Antigua And Barbuda But The Entire Network
LIAT is going through a major restructuring and staff reduction programme, from which it will emerge as a smaller and leaner airline.
That’s the word from the airline’s Chief Executive Officer, David Evans, who says getting rid of the airline’s older Dash 8 fleet is a major priority.
The other, he notes is to reduce the airline’s staff in line with its smaller size.
Evans says negotiations with other airlines are going well and he expects to be able to make an announcement shortly. He also says ongoing negotiations with the unions representing the airline’s staff are proceeding well.
The LIAT CEO explains that the staff reduction is not an Antigua and Barbuda issue but one that will affect the airline’s entire network. He says 160 people will leave the company through voluntary separation, natural attrition or other means.
