Local Hotel Fights Lethal Yellowing On Property
As the twin island state continues to combat the Lethal Yellowing Disease, which has affected a number of palm trees on properties across the island, one local resort is ensuring that it adheres to best practices to combat the bug.
Lethal Yellowing is a phytoplasma disease that attacks many species of palms, including commercially important species such as the coconut and date palm.
Landscaping Manager at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort and Spa, Omar Parks, says the resort has adopted an effective treatment program that has lessened the impact of the disease on the property.
For the few palms that have suffered the fate, the creative minds of the resort decided to make the existing stumps a unique work of art. Here is Environmental Health and Safety Manager, Andrea Marshall.
