No Election National Budget

ROSEAU, Dominica, Jun 25, CMC – Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has assured Dominicans that his administration will not implement any major cut in its fiscal policies when it presents the national budget within the coming weeks.

Parliament last July approved an EC$474.7 million (One EC dollar = US$0.37 cents) fiscal package for 2013.14.

Skerrit, in an interview with the Government Information Service (GIS) said that notwithstanding the fact that the island is gearing for a general election that will be held during this fiscal year “you still must not allow that consideration to lead you in preparing a budget.

“We are not going to do any politicking in this budget. The country is too important and in too much of a delicate stage for us to tinker with it for any apparent political gains.”
