NOMINATIONS IN FOR COUNCIL ELECTIONS
The candidates to contest the March 29 Barbuda Council elections have been duly nominated.
The nomination process, supervised by the Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission, took place over on the sister island today.
Five seats will be contested in the biennial poll, with the Barbuda People’s Movement and Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party each nominating a full slate.
The BPM will be represented by McKenzie Frank, Wade Burton, Melanie Beazer, Nico Antonio and Nadia George.
Nominated to represent the ABLP are Tyrone Beazer, Wesley Beazer, McKiesha Desouza, Kelcina George and Hesketh Daniel.
George, who is running for the second time, fancies her chances this time around.
The lone independent candidate seeking to win a seat on the council is Montgomery Samuel.
The nomination of each candidate was supported by a proposer, a seconder and three witnesses.
Each candidate had to pay a $50 deposit.
