PAHO TO PROVIDE CORONAVIRUS TRAINING
Healthcare workers will receive training specific to the new coronavirus this week.
COVID-19 has infected more than 87 thousand people in at least 60 countries and has resulted in around 3,000 deaths.
Experts from the Pan-American Health Organization will conduct training regarding the virus that has been detected on every continent except Antarctica.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Rhonda Sealey-Thomas says PAHO provided similar assistance during the West Africa Ebola epidemic, which began 2014.
She says the training will also benefit workers who joined the service after the Ebola epidemic.
The government has been working closely with PAHO as it develops an overall response to the global spread of the novel coronavirus.
Health Minister Hon. Molwyn Joseph says the experts will also assess the country’s readiness.
