Siboney Project on Hold

The Minister of Agriculture, Lands, Housing and the Environment says investment in any country is important, but not at the expense of locals.

The comment comes from the Hon. Hilson Baptiste , while addressing the Siboney Poultry Farm project.

Siboney Poultry Farm has been a thorny issue for the government, which has had to allay fears expressed by local producers, who believe that Siboney will monopolize the industry, thereby sinking their businesses.

The agriculture minister says currently, the proposed project has been placed on hold, while certain issues are addressed by government.

One of the issues being addressed is the amount of land required by the investors.

The proposed Siboney Poultry Farm is expected to be a US $ 75 million investment.
