Antigua and Barbuda is calling for member states of the Organisation of American States to ratify the Inter-American Convention against Racism, Racial Discrimination, and Related Forms of Intolerance.

Permanent Representative to the OAS, Sir Ronald Sanders issued the call as he addressed the hemispheric grouping’s Permanent Council in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.

He says Antigua and Barbuda led the way in ratifying the convention, but is among only six states in the hemisphere to have done so. Sir Roanld says the convention can’t be activated until at least 10 states ratify it, and wants other members of the OAS to put their words into action.
