“THAT CAN’T BE RIGHT” – EDUCATION MINISTER DISAPPOINTED OVER A&BUT’S PLANNED INDUSTRIAL ACTION
Education Minister the Hon. Daryll Matthew says he is disappointed with the decision of the Antigua and Barbuda Union of Teachers to call for a sit-in by all public school teachers on Monday morning.
The teachers’ union wants its members to engage in the industrial action, leading up to the start of a scheduled meeting with the Education Ministry at 11am.
The meeting is set to address what the teachers say are unresolved issues, including security in schools and an upgrade for eligible teachers.
Minister Matthew has urged the A&BUT to rescind the call to its membership, insisting the Government has acted in good faith by making progress on all of the issues referenced by the teachers.
