The Political Leader Of The United Progressive Party Defends The Structure Of The CCJ…….

“The appointment procedure and the financial arrangements of the CCJ form part of a model that can be replicated and used as a best practice globally”.

That’s the view of the Political Leader of the United Progressive Party, Senator Harold Lovell.

While speaking at the launch of the public education campaign of on the Caribbean Court of Justice, Senator Lovell, who is also a lawyer by profession, gave evidence that the CCJ will be without political interference.

Senator Lovell also expressed the view that the CCJ will be the envy of the world because of the transparency of the selection process where the judges are concerned.

During his presentation, Senator Lovell noted persons desirous of becoming judges are invited to apply.

The application is then reviewed and based on qualifications and aptitude, a decision is then made by the body, which comprises of civil society and members of the judicial community.
