Union Leader Wigley George Says No Ill Between Himself & Prime Minister Gaston Browne
President of the Antigua Trades and Labour Union (AT&LU), Wigley George has commented publicly for the first time on the Prime Minister’s move to revoke his senatorial appointment.
George was sacked for his refusal to support the Statutory Corporations General Provisions Bill but says there is no enmity between himself and the Hon Gaston Browne.
He was addressing the opening ceremony of the union’s 77th annual delegates’ conference on Sunday where he also called on workers to develop a culture of excellence and aim to be more productive.
George reminded the audience about the union’s history as being one that championed workers’ rights.
He further advocated for workers to be more responsible in carrying out their duties and find ways to develop their skills, therefore becoming more competitive.
