UPP Calls for Benjamin to Resign
Meanwhile, the United Progressive Party (UPP) is calling for the resignation of opposition ALP City South candidate Steadroy Cutie Benjamin in light of Wednesday’s Privy Council Ruling.
UPP spokesperson Joanne Massiah made the call for Benjamin to step down citing that the two other individuals involved Linda Brann and Shane Allen were already been convicted, served their sentences and released.
UPP Chairman Leon “Chaku” Symister says the six year old case is another example of the ALP using their resources to stall judicial proceedings.
He is hoping that opposition leader Gaston Browne will do the right thing and remove Benjamin’s name from the ballot.
The UPP is asking the people of Antigua and Barbuda to choose the party whose motto is Leadership Matters over the opposition which they claim thrives on Criminal Matters.
