Public Defender weighs in on Irwin Point rape case

The Public Defender Earl Witter, has asked the co-convener of a local lobby group to make a written complaint to his office about the alleged police misconduct in the Irwin Point rape case. Dennis Meadows, the co-convener of Citizens Action for Principle and Integrity (CAPI) has issued a statement saying, before brothers Sheldon and Kerron Brisset were placed on an ID parade in the rape case, police investigators released their photos via mobile devices. Witter says those are serious allegations and he wants an official complaint from Meadows. He also says he has asked the lawyer who represented the Brisset brothers whether the men wish to bring any related grievance to the attention of the public defender. The Brisset brothers were set free last week, after the the complainants were unable to point them out in court. Several months ago, it was revealed that DNA samples taken from the men did not match the ones at the crime scene.
