70 YEAR OLD PEDAL CYCLIST INJURED IN ACCIDENT IN ST JOHN’S

A 70 year old man was rushed to hospital Friday evening after he was hit from his bicycle at the corner of Independence Avenue and Redcliffe Street. He was traveling in a southerly direction on Independence Avenue and reportedly attempted to make a right turn onto Redcliffe Street. The driver of a pick-up, who was travelling in the opposite direction, then collided with the pedal cyclist. The motorist told police he had just gone around a vehicle that had stopped at the intersection and did not see the pedal cyclist.

The 70 year old sustained cuts and bruises, but his injuries are not considered life-threatening. Police investigations continue.
