Shot Escapee Laid To Rest

Avie Howell was laid to rest on Monday in a brief ceremony held at the Barnes Funeral Chappel.

While in his later years Howell was known for his criminal activities, family and friends who gathered during the morning service remembered him as a loving young man.

At age 17, he became embroiled in a case which garnered international attention and for which, up to the time of his death, he was imprisoned.

Howell was 24 years old at the time of his death and would have made his 25th birthday on September 24.
