The first step towards the construction of a multi-million dollar Community Center in the Gray’s Farm will take place on Wednesday 26th October, which is National Heroes Day.

Cabinet, during its meeting on Saturday, has indicated that this is when a groundbreaking ceremony for the state-of-the-art Chinese project at Knuckle Block, will occur.

In his cabinet debriefing a few weeks ago, Information Minister – the Hon. Melford Nicholas – gave some insight into the project.

Upon its completion, the facility will boast an indoor basketball/netball court, and other amenities that would transform the vacant lot into a hub for meaningful community activity.

The project, according to the Cabinet notes, was arranged by the Gaston Browne administration since taking office, and is further evidence of the deep and abiding relationship between Antigua and Barbuda and China.

It will also be the third project undertaken by China in the Grays/Green Community during the tenure of three ABLP administrations.

The Multi-purpose Center and the Grays Farm gutter were the first and second, respectively. It is being envisaged that the community center will be finalized in 2017.
