BUSINESSES REACT ON FIRST 5% ABST DAY

Consumers are cashing in on 10 per cent discounts at participating outlets as the Antigua and Barbuda Sales Tax has been reduced from 15 to 5 per cent between today and Sunday, December 13.
It is the first of two weekends when the sales tax is being slashed by 2 thirds.
That will also be the case between Friday December 18 and Sunday December 20.
So has this fiscal incentive fueled more commerce in St John’s?
Our reporters Terry Andrew and Tashwa James took to the streets of the capital to speak with retailers.
