JUDGE BEGINS RULING IN CASE BROUGHT BY FORMER POLICE COMMISSIONER

High Court Justice Ann-Marie Smith has begun handing down her ruling in the challenge brought by Former Police Commissioner, Wendel Robinson against his termination from the post. The Judge ruled on Thursday that his termination was unlawful, but Counsel for the Police Service Commission, Dr David Dorsett told ABS News he immediately asked for a stay of the judgement ahead of an appeal. The claimant, Wendel Robinson, then reportedly indicated he wanted his attorney present to challenge the stay being requested. Justice Smith has asked the parties to return to court on Tuesday, March 30 at 11am for a continuation of the proceedings. The Judge is expected to continue with her oral judgement and also determine whether to grant the stay being requested by Dr Dorsett.

Mr Robinson was terminated as Police Commissioner by the PSC in November 2019. He had told ABS News there were legal issues to be settled over the decision. This is the latest development in his high-profile legal tussle with the PSC.
