MEHUL CHOKSI HELD BY POLICE IN DOMINICA

Mehul Choksi has been detained by Police in Dominica after being reported missing from his Jolly Harbour home in Antigua on Sunday. Confirmation has come from Public Safety Minister, Hon. Steadroy Benjamin. The police in Dominica are now in contact with the Antiguan counterparts to determine the next steps.

Choksi has been accused by authorities in his native India of defrauding the Punjab National Bank, charges he denies. He is seeking to engage in legal action to block his extradition to face the charges. The diamond mogul is also challenging efforts by the government of Antigua and Barbuda to revoke his citizenship which he secured through the Citizenship by Investment Programme.
