PRIME MINISTER BROWNE WARNS OF LEGAL ACTION OVER “DEFAMATORY STATEMENTS”

Prime Minister Gaston Browne is putting media outlets on notice that he will initiate legal action if they publish what he says are defamatory statements against him by Asot Michael.
In a post on his personal Facebook page, the head of government says news outlets which publish the defamatory statements against him from Michael, will hear from his attorneys.
Michael leveled several allegations against the prime minister in a recent broadcast.
Michael, who is running as an independent candidate for St Peter did not provide any evidence in that broadcast supporting his allegations.
The prime minister’s comments come against the background of a similar move by St Lucia’s Prime Minister, Phillip J. Pierre.
The St Lucian leader is moving to take legal action over statements made about him in a Facebook post.
